Warranty and Repair

Cheeky Fishing is proud to be an independent fishing manufacturer.  For our customers, this means excellent service all the time.  A big part of this customer service promise is having a simple and speedy Warranty and Repair Policy. Details on our policies are below, and you can submit your form there. If you have any warranty questions, please email them to us at getcheeky@cheekyfishing.com.  

Please note: Cheeky will not accept any reels for Warranty or Repair unless a claim has been submitted, and your reel has been registered, first.  Reels that are sent to Cheeky without completing a Claim Form first will be returned.

Warranty & Repair Instructions:

All products have issues from time to time.  Sometimes there was an error in manufacturing missed by Quality Checks.  Sometimes we throw our reel over a bridge to land the carp of a lifetime.  Whatever the reason for your reel malfunction, we at the Cheeky Fishing Team are here to get the problems addressed and you back on the water.

If you find yourself needing one of our reels repaired or replaced, there are a few things we ask of you.  Please fill out the repair form located below.  That gives us some basic information like what we should be looking for and where to send the product or communication to.  We will then be in touch with shipping instructions and next steps. Any fly line or backing must be removed before sending the reel to us for review. 

We will fix any of our mistakes in manufacturing or shipping. But, we ask that you be prepared to pay a nominal fee of $30 for any basic repair not covered. 

There may be an additional cost for reels requiring major overhauls due to poor maintenance or extreme damage. We understand replacement may not be what you want.  Heck, if I had a species list high in the double digits on my reel, I would want it back too.  Just be aware that extra work will cost a little extra.

You can expect a few things from us too.  We will always value our customers' investment in us. We stand behind our product.  That means that reels deemed unrepairable will be replaceable with current products.  We may offer you a discount to replace bent or broken spools and frames if not covered under our warranty. This means brand new products for limited cost to you.

You can also expect communication from our repair team through the process.  We don’t want to make changes without consulting you.  You will be presented with options, and you can pick the best fit for your situation.  

Many of the people landing fish with our reels never need to go through this process.  If you do, you can be confident that we will offer the same value and expertise that you get with all of our products.

Reel Maintenance Basics

We want everyone fishing our reels to keep them on the water for as long as possible.  Doing a few simple things can help achieve that goal.

Firstly, let’s address storage.  Your reel should always be stored in the case we provide for you to keep dust and dirt from gathering.  You should also back the drag off when storing to keep those parts from wearing unnecessarily. 

Before you store your reel, rinse off any saltwater or dirt that may have accumulated during your adventure.  Don’t worry, our reels are supposed to get wet.  Saltwater can corrode screws and exposed parts over time.  Dirt can find its way into all the parts that need to stay clean. Even with sealed drag systems we recommend rinsing thoroughly between uses. 

Lastly, don’t attempt to disassemble your reel without proper tools or experience.  We have both, and we are happy to give heritage reels a tune up here in our Colorado repair facility.  It is best that you leave the repairs to the experts.

Warranty Policy

All Cheeky fly fishing reels except PreLoad reels carry a limited lifetime warranty to the original owner covering defects in materials or workmanship. Cheeky PreLoad reels carry a limited one year warranty to the original owner covering defects in materials or workmanship. Cheeky Fishing will repair or replace any Cheeky fly reels under this warranty (the "Warranty") at no cost for parts or labor.  Cheeky has sole discretion as to whether a reel is covered under Warranty. 

Repair Policy

If your fly fishing reel is not covered under our Warranty Policy, Cheeky Fishing will repair or replace it for a fee. Cheeky will provide you with a cost-estimate so that you can make an informed decision about repairing your fly reel.

Warranty & Repair Shipping Policy

Shipping cost, from your location to Cheeky Fishing, is the responsibility of the customer. We recommend you insure your package for its replaceable value and save your tracking number. Return shipping cost is covered by Cheeky Fishing. 

The Legal Stuff:

This Warranty does not cover repair or replacement of any parts damaged by handling, operation, misuse, vandalism, modification, neglect, accident, improper maintenance, normal wear and tear, or any cause other than defects in materials or workmanship.  This Warranty is valid for the original registered owner only and is non-transferrable.  The original owner must complete Warranty registration within 90 days of purchase.  Failure to register within 90 days of purchase will relieve Cheeky Fishing of any obligations under this Warranty.

Damaged parts may be replaced with the most current parts, which may include variations in color and design. Cheeky Fishing has sole discretion to determine whether its products are covered under this Warranty.

Cheeky Fishing shall not be liable for special, indirect, or consequential damages, and this Warranty is in lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied, and the remedies of customers herein provided shall be your sole remedy for any defect in any Cheeky Fishing product, whether in warranty, negligence, contract, or otherwise.

THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE AND IN PLACE OF ALL OTHER REMEDIES AND WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND SHALL EXCLUDE ANY LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY.

This Warranty contains the entire agreement between Cheeky Fishing and customer with respect to the subject matter hereof, and no amendment or waiver of any of the terms, provisions, or conditions of this Warranty shall be effective unless in writing and executed by both Cheeky Fishing and customer.

This Warranty is to be governed and interpreted in accordance with the law of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without reference to principles of conflict of laws. Any judicial actions relating, directly and/or indirectly, to the enforcement of this Warranty shall only be brought in the Federal and/or Massachusetts State Courts located in Boston, Massachusetts, and to that end both Cheeky Fishing and customer hereby consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal and/or Massachusetts State Courts located in Massachusetts.

Cheeky Fishing and customer warrant that this Warranty has been carefully read and fully understood and voluntarily accepted by Cheeky Fishing and customer.
